My husband is CONSTANTLY ruining our non-stick cookware. He can not get it through his head that he can not use metal utensils with non-stick cookware. It is driving me INSANE!!!

If I get stainless steel will he be able to destroy them?
Also, what are the downfalls of stainless vs. non-stick?

How do I clean really baked on grease off my steel cookware?

Rob asked:

I have a steel saucepan, kettle, etc. They have gotten really stained and no amount of effort seems to get them clean. I have a gas range which probably doesn’t help.

I have tried baking soda, detergent, scrubbing. Is there some kind of trick to get them shiny again, get the stains off.

It looks really bad, brown.

PS I don’t have a dishwasher.

I have a pan that seems to have a sticky residue on it and I’m afraid if I scrub it too hard it will get all scratched up. Its been through the dishwasher a few times but I don’t want to keep doing that. Any tips?

Should i buy Stainless Steel cookware or Non Stick?

Troy G asked:

Currently looking at buying either Stainless Steel pots and pans or Non Stick. I’m a fairly decent cook, and i know you need oil or butter when cooking in stainless, but Non stick would be alot easier if i was cooking multiple things or get side tracked for a moment. Each one has pro’s and con’s. Just trying to figure out which one to spend my money on

Stainless steel cookware in the oven?

Meganator asked:

I was watching Everyday Italian today, and she cooked some stuff in her stainless steel sautee pan, then put it right in the oven. Is it okay to do that? The brand is Tramontina and they are all stainless steel. I would love to be able to sautee then put straight in the oven, but I don’t want to ruin my beautiful new pans!

Also, does anyone have any good suggestions for cleaning them? I use Mr. Metal and the soft side of a sponge since the harsh side scratches them, but sometimes it’s so hard to get the food off inside since I can’t scrub them. Any suggestions?
I forgot to say that there is no teflon coating, and the handles are also stainless steel. Thanks for reminding me of that Theyuks.

Is it OK to use a cooking spray on stainless steel cookware?

Carol J asked:

I am considering buying stainless steel cookware and am doing research but cannot find any info as to whether or not you can use cooking spray such as Pam on stainless steel and whether it affects cooking results in a positive or negative way. Sure it’s best to use butter or oil for flavor but I want to use less fats and I do not want to purchase non-stick cookware. Thank you.

stainless steel vs hard anodized?

Filed under: Steel Cookware Set — Tags: , , — SCS Blogger @ 10:23 pm
lil asked:

i’m about to buy my first cookware set, and i don’t know what to do. please help me!! these are my toughts:
Stainless steel= i found a nice cookware and it’s half the price of the hard-anodized, but i read some reviews on the internet (i couldn’t find many because i guess it’s a less famous brand: solingen germany) and they just say to be careful because the handles can get hot.
Hard-anodized= it’s almost twice expensive, kitchenaid, silicone handles, no holes on the lid for steam. I read sometimes it change the flavors of the food, is that true?

So I want to buy a cookware set that will last many many years, honestly i won’t be cooking everyday, just a couple of days a week, like weekends maybe, i’ll be cooking for 2, i want to use as little oil as possible, i don’t own a dishwasher.

With this in mind, please advice me!!!
